Some Chess was written by Jon Link in pure PHP using a MySql database as a backbone. Because it uses only PHP it is accessible even to the folks without java or javascript access. Some Chess can be set up as an invite only system (the default) or an open registration system. The pleasant design, pure PHP, and membership system make Some Chess unique among multiplayer chess servers. I hope you enjoy it.
Installation is simple though you do need PHP and a MySQL database. Depending on your server installation of Some Chess can be as easy as editing the config file and uploading Some Chess.
Some Chess is happily open source so folks are free to take and edit this program as they like. If you improve upon Some Chess I’d like to see what it is you’ve done, but it isn’t a requirement.
